Summary

A sycamore tree at 48 Morris Lane is proposed to have its lower branches removed up to a height of 5 metres. This is called a crown lift. It raises the base of the canopy but does not remove the tree. The site sits right next to Kirkstall Abbey, a Scheduled Monument and one of England's best-preserved medieval ruins. Morris Wood, an area of ancient woodland, is also close by. The work is on the side of the tree facing a neighbour's greenhouse. A Heritage Impact Assessment has not been submitted. Given the proximity to a Scheduled Monument, the council may ask for one before reaching a decision.

What you can do

You can comment on this application through Leeds City Council's planning portal using reference 26/01407/TR. The council can consider the impact on the setting of Kirkstall Abbey and proximity to Morris Wood. They cannot take into account personal disputes between neighbours that are unrelated to planning matters.
